Specimen Requirements

Call The Valley Hospital Microbiology Laboratory at 201-447-8306 to obtain CLOtest® media prior to specimen collection.

Container/Tube: CLOtest® media

Specimen Volume: 1 mm to 3 mm of gastric mucosal tissue biopsy

Collection Instructions: Collect specimen as follows:

1. Patient should not have taken antibiotics or bismuth salts for at least 3 weeks prior to endoscopy.

2. Obtain biopsy.

3. Immediately after collection, fully embed biopsy in CLOtest® gel and transport to laboratory.

Note: Label specimen appropriately.
