Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 30 minutes of draw.

Container/Tube: Blood gas syringe

Specimen Volume: Full tube or syringe of whole blood

Collection Instructions: Immediately invert tube and mix gently 8 times. Place specimen on wet ice immediately after draw. Avoid exposure of specimen to atmosphere.

Note: 1. Testing is performed by Respiratory Department of The Valley Hospital.

           2. Label specimen appropriately.
