Specimen Requirements

Call The Valley Hospital Laboratory at 201-447-8232 prior to specimen collection to obtain container and preservative.

Container/Tube: Plastic urine container
Specimen Volume: Entire 24-hour urine collection

Collection Instructions: Add 25 mL of 6N HCl as preservative at start of collection. Refrigerate specimen during collection.

Note: 1. Starting and ending times of collection are required.

2. Follow instructions in “Urine Collection” in Special Instructions.

3. Label specimen appropriately.
